How to Jumpstart your Battery.

Car batteries were designed to last a minimum of 5 years.If yours lasts longer then your taking good care of your car.Some factors that can affect a batteries life are.
1. Poor maintenance.                                                                                                                                    2. Severe cold                                                                                                                                             3. Leaving the radio and lights on unnecessarily.                                                                                             4. Leaving the car running idly for long periods.                                                                                             5. Faulty car parts which demand more from the battery. etc                                                                          Well here are some steps to enable you jumpstart your battery with jumper cables but must be done with extreme caution

1. Inspect the battery for any sign of damage.                                                                                                2.Check all the cables attached to the battery are secure and free of any sign of corrosion.Tighten all loose cables.                                                                                                                                                        3. Position the vehicle to be jumpstarted close to the second vehicle and make sure the cables are close enough to connect the two cars.                                                                                                                  4. Shut off the vehicle used to jumpstart your battery.                                                                                    5. Open the hoods of the two vehicles                                                                                                          6. Identify the positive and negative terminals on each battery.                                                                        7. One end of the red jumper cable should be attached to the ends of the two vehicles and the black end to the negative end of the two vehicles.At this point sparks are emitted but this is normal.                                  8. Turn the engine of the charger vehicle and rev it.If it does not charge,adjust the jumper cables and try again.                                                                                                                                                           9. Once its being charged,it should be kept running for 20-30mins so the alternator can have enough time to charge it.After charging the failed battery,turn off the engine and remove the cables in reverse order to how you attached it.
