The benefit was that at night we will sleep in the dry cleaning shop.           I thought I was going to get a job within the first three months of my stay but that was not to be, as I transverse the length and breadth of Lagos looking for elusive job opportunities. There were times I had to trek from Ojodu all the way to Maryland just to attend job interviews, because I could not afford transport fares.           Feeding was a big problem. I mean it was a period you would wake up in the morning and you had no idea where your next meal would come from. We survived on the goodwill of our fellow church members and kind-hearted neighbours, because my friend’s sister in-law was something else. Just because of me, they stop giving my friend food.           When I look back, I think those experiences had a purpose in helping me to discard my “graduate arrogance” and humbled me to start looking for what to do to earn a living even though it is very small.           One day, as I was trekking through the street of Ikeja in search of any job [I had early resolved that I was going to do anything if for nothing, but just to make some money to survive] I came across a vacancy sign that reads “property officer”. Without much hesitation, I walked into the office, behold it was a  real estate company, that employs field sales people to scout for properties, sellers and buyers of properties on commission. I had no option but to accept the offer. I was the only graduate in the office. The other sales people were SSCE holders. But I didn’t budge, so far I could make some money on daily basis to feed and meet my other expenses.
